Gratitude and self care ~ assignment 4

It is important to express gratitude in a professional setting because it not only creates strong relationships with co-workers, patients, and superiors but it also takes the positive out of negative outcomes. Having gratitude is showing gratefulness and being kind which sets the tone/mood for your surrounding; someone’s energy bounces of the people around them. You do not want to treat your coworker bad because they are going to return that energy. For example members demonstrate gratitude to one another by; praising their co-workers work, using manners likes thank you, bringing your co-worker a coffee after a long day. It is important to stay positive through hard times. Everyone has stress and people deal with it differently, one way that I manage my stress is by counting in my head up to 10 and breathing.

Taking a 10 seconds to yourself to reevaluate and take a breather is important throughout the day but a strategy I use to decompress is by treating myself. Treating yourself may have a different meaning for everyone but for me that means having a nice dinner, taking a bath, doing a face mask, drinking some tea, and watching my favorite show on TV. Although that is not a way to decompress in a professional setting, taking a breather for 10 seconds to collect your thoughts in a corner with your eyes closed is a very respectful way to manage stress at work. Taking a breath and counting to 10 is a great way to collect your thoughts and get back on the right track in order to be your best self for yourself, your co-workers, and most importantly your patients.
