Inquiry to Discovery

When beginning research, I was confident our PICOT question would be supported by various articles because we had a strong PICOT question. As we continued to search, we kept hitting a wall, we could not find any articles regarding our question. This is when we took a step back and decided to revise our PICOT question. The challenge of not being able to find articles for our question shined light on how important wording is when trying to find articles. In our original PICOT question, our population was newborns, but I found that once we changed the population to infants our findings expanded. Our biggest challenge was not being able to find articles with our original question. We resolved our challenge by re-evaluating our original PICOT question and making some edits to see if we could broaden our research results. My group was unsure if changing the question would result in the same disappointment as the first question. But as we begin to research with our new PICOT question, we found multiple articles to choose from and that was a successful moment for my group. We were taking a step in the right direction. As a group being able to revise our PICOT question together in a challenging moment is also a success. Since we have started the first step of this project, I think my group has made good progress in working together to create a research question and finding adequate articles for support. I think my peers and I have good strategies when approaching our project. We have a shared word document that has helped us stay organized when finding articles; organization is a key strategy when developing a long-term project. I would not change our strategy or approach to this project, I believe my group putting in good effort and are being mindful of due dates.
